The strategy will primarily focus on formal community sport participation and the required infrastructure, identifying future needs and potential upgrades.
The council is keen to gain an understanding of the sports and activities that residents engage in, their motivations for participation, and any factors that may encourage or discourage their involvement, such as travel distance and the quality of facilities.
Strthbogie Shire Council Administrator Peter Stephenson said it was important to maintain and renew existing sporting and recreational facilities.
“This strategy plays a vital role in ensuring that the community has access to top-quality sports infrastructure,” Mr Stephenson said.
“Council recognises the crucial role that sport, recreation and physical activity have in building vibrant, liveable communities and promoting health and wellbeing.
“Having a plan for future needs is important to help guide future investment and priorities.
“The strategy also aligns with the Council Plan 2021-25 Strategic Focus on strong, healthy, and safe communities.
“Council is seeking critical insights into how we can improve our existing infrastructure and develop new facilities that meet the needs of our diverse community, and their structured sporting activities”
Mr Stephenson said he encouraged residents to have their say via share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au/
He said the feedback council receives will help ensure that the community has equitable access to high-quality sport and recreation infrastructure, now and for future generations.
The survey closes at 5pm on Friday, August 9.
