Taipans and Yellowbellies looking strong as Benalla Table Tennis Club returns
Table tennis resumed on Tuesday, July 16 after a two-week break for the school holidays.

On those two Tuesdays the club ran special events, the first being a friendly competition with the Swanpool and district club and the second was a coaching night. Both were well attended and very successful.
A-Grade
The Kangas, Jamhal McDonald and Phil Keast, played against the Taipans, Stephen Lane and Sienna Bajada.
Lane beat McDonald in a tight five-set match. Keast then won in five sets over Bajada. The Taipans won the doubles in straight sets.
McDonald then had a four-set win over Bajada and Lane beat Keast in three giving the Taipans a 3-2 victory.
The Galahs, Gareth Burnell and Paul Shea, had a 3-2 win over the Plovers, Wayne Phillips and Xavier Rhodes. Phillips beat Burnell in four.
Rhodes had a convincing three-set win over Shea. The Galahs won the doubles in straight sets. Burnell beat Rhodes in three and Phillips had a four-set win over Shea.
It was another 3-2 win for the Yellowbellies, Michelle Feldtmann and Christian Squires, against the Owls, Shaun Murphy (replaced by Mick Kelly) and Patrick Cornell.
Keast beat Feldtmann in straight sets. Squires had a three-set win over Cornell. The Yellowbellies won the doubles in three.
Kelly beat Squires in three and Feldtmann had a four-set win over Cornell.
The Crocodiles, John Bajada and Flynn Maloney, had a five-nil win over Julien Timmins and Logan Hyland. The best match was Maloney's five-set win over Timmins.
Paul Hossack and Matt Parkinson, Redbacks, had a 3-2 win over Brian Harrington and James Depio of the Kookaburras.
Harrington won in three against Hossack. Parkinson won in four over Depio. The Redbacks won the doubles in three. Harrington and Hossack had straight-sets wins over Parkinson and Depio respectively.
B-Grade
The Rosellas, Mehdi Zamani and Mick Kelly, played against the Numbats, Alejandro Diaz and Lois Hermiston.
Zamani won a five-setter against Diaz. Kelly beat Hermiston in three. The doubles went to the Numbats in four.
Diaz beat Kelly in four and Zamani beat Hermiston in three, giving the Rosellas a 3-2 victory.
The Cockies, Wesley Shea and Ray Grant, played against the Mozzies, Pauline Hooper and Laurene Donaldson. Hooper beat Shea in four.
Grant won in straight sets against Donaldson. The Mozzies won the doubles in three. Shea won a four-set match against Donaldson and Hooper won a tight five-set match with Grant, giving the Mozzies a 3-2 win.
The Gliders, Stuart Jones and Rae Spencer, had a 3-2 win over the Joeys, Brian Perry and Braeden Blackford.
Jones beat Perry in three sets. Blackford won a close four-set match with Spencer. The doubles went to five sets with the Gliders victorious.
Jones won in three over Blackford and Perry beat Spencer, also in three.
Carol Perry and John Spencer teamed up for the Wombats against Chris Seely and Elliot McCallum, Frogs. Despite some very close matches, the Frogs won 5-0.
C-Grade
The Doves, Andy Donaldson and Brendan Kipping, had a 3-2 win over the Magpies, Helen Hyland and Katherine Dibrivnaya.
Donaldson won a five-setter against Hyland. Dibrivnaya beat Kipping in four. The Doves won a really tight five-set doubles match.
Donaldson beat Dibrivnaya in straight sets and Hyland also had a straight-sets win over Kipping.
The Crickets, Greg Cornell and Val Kipping, won a hard-fought 3-2 match up with the Falcons, Colin McFarlane and Andrew Morris.
Cornell won in three against McFarlane. Morris beat Kipping 15-13 in the fifth. The Crickets won the doubles in four.
McFarlane won another five-set match 16-14 in the fifth. Cornell finished off with a three-set win over Morris.
