The program offers grants ranging from $1000 to $5000 for eligible organisations that rely on volunteers.
Federal Member for Nicholls, Sam Birrell, highlighted the vital role volunteers play in sustaining regional communities.
“Whether it’s cooking the BBQ, coaching the local sporting team, helping provide goods for the less fortunate or running amazing community events, volunteers help ensure our region thrives,” Mr Birrell said.
“While these grants are small, they will have a much bigger impact and help support the selfless work of volunteers.”
The grants can be used for several purposes, including purchasing communication or insurance items, or services that assist volunteers in activities promoting the wellbeing and development of children under-18.
“Volunteers help improve the physical and mental wellbeing of our communities,” Mr Birrell said.
“These grants will help reduce barriers for volunteers as well as help increase participation in volunteering.”
Expressions of interest are now open and can be submitted via Mr Birrell’s website, where the grant guidelines are also available.
The submissions’ deadline is January 15, 2025, with organisations invited to complete a formal application in February.
