Use your skills and experience to shape the next generation of our regional workforce.
From administration, career advisers and counsellors to trainers and assessors, there are a number of roles on offer across GOTAFE’S campuses.
Trainer and assessor in nursing, Yvonne Richards, became a nurse when she was 17.
More than 30 years later, she is still working in the field she loves and is passing on her knowledge and experience with her students.
“There’s so many skills and qualities that make an exceptional nurse,” Yvonne said.
“It all boils down to having empathy, kindness and respect for those under your care.
“We teach everyone the same and we treat the patients as if they were our family.”
Sue Egan has been working at GOTAFE for 11 years as a trainer and assessor in hairdressing.
Establishing trust and rapport with local salons, and training students in best practice and the latest techniques, has been a key part of Sue’s role.
“The things I love most about working at GOTAFE are the friendships, teamwork and everyone is so passionate about their industry,” she said.
David Boyle is a student wellbeing adviser at GOTAFE, offering counselling and support to students who are facing challenges, whether that be with study or in their personal life.
“I did my diploma through GOTAFE back in the day, so there’s a real linkage there for me as an individual or user of the system,” David said.
“For me, it was a no-brainer when I got an invitation to work here. It was a really good fit for me.
“You might get into your GP later in the week, you might be waiting three months to see a counsellor or longer. We can respond on the day.
“It’s designed that way so we can be really responsive to the needs of the students.
“That’s what I really love about the job, helping people.”
