SAM Foundation announced the exclusive performance of the renowned musical ensemble as a new fundraising event scheduled for Saturday, August 5.
Flinders Quartet is one of Australia’s most beloved chamber music ensembles.
Entering their third decade of music-making, the musicians will showcase their exceptional talent and experience on stage for the Greater Shepparton community.
The ensemble will be joined by erhu virtuoso Dong Ma for a captivating performance of Brenda Gifford’s commissioned composition Dissipate, followed by a rendition of Bach’s Goldberg Variations arranged for erhu and string quartet by Julian Yu.
This concert program is the result of extensive creative development, symbolising a true collaboration between musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds.
It serves as a celebration of diversity, creativity and the unifying power of music.
Flinders Quartet artistic director and cellist Zoe Knighton said the program had been incredibly rewarding, enabling musical conversations that transcend time, geography and language.
“Our life’s work revolves around blending different sounds and musical ideas into a harmonious artistic statement,” she said.
Ticket proceeds will contribute to supporting future SAM programs and activities.
Attendees will enjoy a drink and light refreshments included with their ticket.
The Flinders Quartet performance will take place at Shepparton Art Museum, 530 Wyndham St, Shepparton, from 5pm to 7:30pm on Saturday, August 5.
