On Saturday afternoon, Seymour’s forward was everywhere against the Murray Bombers at the Benalla Showgrounds.
As individual performances go, Mason’s was arguably the best in the first week of the GVL finals, given the opposition.
Riley Mason vs Echuca
Effective disposals - 12
Contested possessions - 14
Contested marks - 7
Goal accuracy - 100%
Score involvements - 9
While his numbers were not out of the park, Mason’s efficiencies around the ball stood out.
Of his 18 disposals, 12 were effective, as the forward got on the ball when needed and almost always picked the right pass.
The sign of a formidable player is their drive never to shy away from the contest, and Mason shone in this area.
Mason won 14 contested possessions and seven contested marks, leading both statistics for the game.
In front of goals, the Seymour forward was perfect, kicking four majors with 100 per cent accuracy.
While finishing off attacks is Mason’s forte, the player was involved in nine of the team’s 13 scores, including two goal assists.
Week after week, a player steps up to the mark for Seymour and has an outstanding match, making it all the more difficult for Euroa next week to know where the most significant threat is.
