Rochester is using the football by hand more effectively than any other team in Goulburn Valley football, unveiled as the top ranked team through the launch of GVL Data statistical information last week.

Rochester has an 85 per cent handball efficiency rate, better than all of the top three teams in the competiton - Echuca, Euroa (both 84 per cent) and Mansfield.
Winger Jordan Harper’s 114 handballs from his 10 games have been delivered at an efficiency rate of 95 per cent.
Not only is Harper excellent by hand, he is also great at receiving handballs. In fact, he is clearly the leading player (128, next best is 97) in this category.
Harper is by far the most effective handball exponent in the league, of the players who have delivered more than 100 handballs.
Next best is Echuca’s Mitch Wales, who has 105 handballs at 88 per cent.
Harper’s precise delivery is backed up by the work of fellow mid-fielder Chris Jansen (103 handballs at 86 per cent), Lachlan Harper (101 at 85 per cent) and Adam McPhee (91 handballs at 88 per cent).
By foot the Tigers are ranked fourth in regard to efficiency, at 64 per cent, not far behind the most effective teams - Seymour and Mansfield, who go at 66 per cent.
Rochester’s status as the Goulburn Valley league leader in regard to efficiency by hand comes as it is fifth in regard to total disposals.
Echuca tops the list with 3375 from its 10 matches, ahead of Euroa (3307), Seymour (3295) and Shepparton Swans (3256).
Rochester is next best with 3172 disposals (1927 kicks - ranked fifth - and 1245 handballs - ranked fourth).
The Tigers are ranked fourth in regard to handballs, behind Echuca (1375) Shepparton Swans and Euroa. Only 182 of those disposals by hand for the Tigers have been ineffective, hence the high efficiency ranking.
The Tigers are ranked second in regard to intercept marks and forward 50 marks.
Rochester defenders Jacob Atley and Hamish Hooppell, along with ruckman Daniel Russell feature prominently in the intercept marking statistic - although Kyabram centre half back Lachlan Smith stands alone at the top of the category.
Smith has taken 59 intercept marks, 20 clear of Mansfield key defender Jack Hutchins.
Rochester’s Jacob Atley, from nine games, has taken 24 intercept marks. Hooppell (21) and Russell (15) are both inside the top 20.
Mooroopna’s leading goalkicker Christopher Neild leads the forward 50 marks category with 59, ahead of Echuca’ Ruory Kirky (50).
Rochester’s second overall ranking is influenced by the performances of high leaping Mitch Cricelli, coach Steven Stroobants and key forward James McPhee.
Cricelli is ranked fourth in regard to forward 50 marks, with 33, while Stroobants (19) and McPhee (17) are both inside the top 20.
Rochester is the bottom ranked team in regard to one per centers, second bottom for spoils, eighth for tackles and ninth for groundball gets.
The Tigers have had a good run from the umpires, ranked third in regard to free kicks (behind Shepparton Swans and Shepparton United).
Going the other way Rochester is middle of the pack, sixth, in regard to free kicks against.
