All the proceeds from the sale will go to the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Two extremely functional, eye-appealing Wattlewood Angus heifers have been selected and halter-broken for the fundraiser.
Stud principal Fiona Glover said the heifers were not only phenotypically correct, but were backed with a terrific pedigree, have been genotyped and have EBVs that would have a place in any herd.
The first heifer on offer is Wattlewood Barunah V19, who is a feminine heifer with a clean front end that flows gracefully through well-laid-in shoulders, a long body with a classic broad hindquarter.
She is by Kelly Angus Quinn, selected at Wattlewood to be utilised over heifers due to his lower birthweight EBV. Barunah’s dam, S25, has incorporated EF Complement 8088 and Summitcrest Prime Cut in her pedigree.
Barunah V19 has consistent EBVs in the top 20 per cent for her Angus Breeding Indexes, Docility, Milk and Net Feed Intake.
The other choice that the successful bidder has is Wattlewood Acacia V28.
Fiona said Acacia has been the agents’ pick, being a robust female that has plenty of meat in a stylish frame.
Out of a Beast Mode B074, a female that is a favourite at Wattlewood, Acacia is sired by the herd sire, Texas Superfund, that is out of the famous Texas Undine female line by Coonamble investment.
Acacia has lots of growth and fertility and would be an asset in anyone’s herd.
The heifer package comes with a membership to Angus Australia, the registration of the first calf as well as a genomic test and a merchandise pack from Angus Australia.
ABS has jumped in with a $200 semen voucher to select the sire of your choice to join your selected female and The Cattle Shop has donated a halter, nose lead and a comb if the purchaser would like to continue to show the female of choice.
The charity auction will be held during the Wattlewood Angus bull auction on-farm at Lang Lang on Friday, March 7
