Last week, Cooinda’s Leadership Team contacted the family members of its residents, appealing to them to consider if their visit was essential at this present time, as a proactive approach to protect the health and wellbeing of it residents against community contagions.
Cancelled: Covid-19 affects local events
Chief executive officer Alex McKenna said Cooinda had taken the measure to restrict access of people visiting to the main reception entrance only, where a screening process is undertaken, in the interest and safety of its residents.
These guidelines are being strictly adhered to, as any person entering the facility poses a potentially immediate danger to residents.

“Our residents are our number one concern and it is our responsibility to maintain their health and wellbeing,” Mr McKenna said.
“As you can appreciate, community acquired infections, such as coronavirus and influenza, can have an immediate and devastating impact on our residents, who typically have poor immune systems.
“It is for this reason, we have kindly and respectfully requested that at present, no visiting is conducted,” he said.
“We have implemented immediate restricted access both in terms of visitors in the facility and also access only via reception until further notice.

“We also recognise social isolation can impact a person’s emotional wellbeing, which is why our Health and Wellbeing Team continue to offer fun, social activities within Cooinda in small groups.
“We are also exploring a variety of ways family and friends can keep in touch with their loved ones.”
Phone Cooinda on 5761 3300 to ask us about the many ways in which you can keep in touch with your loved one to help them to stay connected to the community.
“We appreciate the understanding of the community on this critical matter,” Mr McKenna said.
