Victoria Police launched CommConnect at the beginning of July, the aim of which is to directly focus resources on building stronger and more collaborative relationships with communities.

The new initiative will see officers (usually at sergeant level) assigned to engage with key stakeholders, such as business owners and schools in specific sectors of the Police Service Area.
Senior Sergeant Mark Byers said the launch of this initiative was timely.
“Police will also be using this opportunity to promote the Benalla Safety Survey, which can be accessed online from June 29 until August 31,” Sen Sgt Bayers said.
“This community safety survey aligns with the purpose of CommConnect – to find out the local safety issues that matter most to our community.

“Feedback received throughout this process, and our regular interactions as part of CommConnect, will help develop local police priorities and initiatives to improve community safety in the region.”
