And Gemma knows all about Frontline workers, being married to the subject of last week's article, Matt the Pharmacist.
And like those working in local pharmacies Gemma, and her colleagues in school across the state, has been forced to adapt to life in a pandemic.
As you might expect having some students in school, and others working remotely, has it's challenges.
All packed up with nowhere to go
“We learnt a lot from the first time restrictions were introduced,” Gemma said.
“Families and the school worked together really well last time and we used a lot of the feedback we received from our families to refine the way we present the curriculum to students.
“And in terms of how to stay connected with students when they are working at home.
“A lot has been learnt and so far the feedback has been really positive from families and other staff members which we are really happy with.

“So we now have the hand sanitiser for anyone who comes in, we check temperatures and of course everyone who visits has to wear a mask.
“And that is something that is different from the first time. We had the hand sanitiser initially, but that was all.
“Staff members also have to wear the face-masks.
“Teaching face-to-face we don't have to wear one, it's a choice.
“But when we are interacting in the staff room we are wearing them.”

The way the school does its remote learning varies depending on the age group with older students given a bit more freedom.
“The challenge with Foundation students is that they are still building their independence, so a lot of the work needs to be facilitated by an adult,” Gemma said.
“But we've also done our best to make the learning as independent as possible with videos and different methods of teaching online.
“Our parents do their bit at home as many are working form home right now.

“Some need to go into work, and their children are able to come into school.”
Gemma said it could take a bit of adjusting for the children who are attending in person.
“They seem pretty settled though,” she said.
“I think the first time quite a few were unsettled.

“But having done it all before it's been a bit of a smoother transition.
“And the teachers, we try and make it as fun as we can and enjoyable for them.
“We want things to be as calm as possible and do our best to not make a big deal of the situation we are in.”
