State Member for Euroa and Nationals deputy leader Steph Ryan is encouraging interested local sporting groups to consider applying for funding under the program.

“2020 has been a very challenging year for our local sporting clubs and associations who have been significantly impacted by COVID-19 restrictions,” Ms Ryan said.
“Our local sporting clubs and associations play such an important role in our community and now, more than ever, they need support.
“For many clubs, the government’s short-term survival package just doesn’t go far enough to alleviate the dire financial pressure they are currently facing.
“Programs like this are designed to ensure all Victorians can enjoy the benefits of participating in sport and active recreation.

“Being involved in community sport is a great outlet for everyone, where you can make new friends while improving your own health and wellbeing at the same time.
“Even though most sports are currently suspended, it does provide a great opportunity for coaches, sporting club officials and managers to upskill.
“Once restrictions are lifted it will be great to get back on the field, court or oval, made even better with a new uniform on your back and some new equipment.
“I look forward to supporting the projects put forward from across our region to make sure our local people have access to the sporting facilities and training support they are entitled to and deserve.”
Applications close on September 29.
