At the address there was a quantity of what appeared to be electrical equipment being loaded onto an enclosed trailer and the front garden was completely covered with plants that police were in the process of removing.
First Constable Yousif Oraha of Seymour DTU confirmed that after entering the property a number of cannabis plants were found.
“Today, being the 28th of January 2021, Seymour Divisional Tasking Unit executed a drugs warrant at an address in Benalla,” Const Oraha said.
“We’ve located a large number of cannabis plants, with an estimated street value in excess of $1 million.

“(I can reassure Ensign readers) this this type of thing is not very common, but it can happen.
“The thing we (ask of) people is if there is any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to contact crime stoppers or the local police station.
“They can do that without exposing their details, it can be all confidential. Then local police can assign an investigator to follow it up.”
Police were at the property for several hours as they conducted their investigation, which Const Oraha said was ongoing.
