More enthusiastic volunteers are now required to help Benalla’s young people through Connect9, Tomorrow Today’s 10-week community-based mentoring program.
“Year 9 students are supported by a local mentor to try hobbies and fun activities they might otherwise not have access to,"Ms Koop said.
“(They also) visit workplaces and explore career paths that are of interest to them.
“Each year 26 young people have the chance to participate in Connect9.

“Each is matched with a volunteer mentor, their ‘buddy’, who spends up to 20 hours of their time sharing experiences and helping them to set life and career goals.
“Connect9 makes such a positive difference in the lives of Benalla’s young people, it helps them stay focused on their education and connects our community as a whole.”
Mentors are given training, ongoing advice and support during Connect9.
