Now in its 56th year, The Red Shield Appeal is The Salvos’ flagship fundraising appeal which aims to raise funds to support social and community services.
The funds raised locally will stay local and be used to support Benalla and the surrounding communities.

Ben Anderson, who with his wife Jaimee heads up the Benalla Salvos, said as we emerged from 2020’s COVID challenges, they were finding more people than ever needing support.
“We are learning of some of the hardships that have occurred in the past 12 months and responding to continually escalating demand in our community,” Mr Anderson said.
“The impact of COVID-19 last year meant that almost the entirety of funds raised during the Red Shield Appeal were funnelled into direct response to people affected by COVID-19 locally.
“This year, Benalla Salvos aspires to continue responding to COVID-19, but also to re-establish new community support initiatives for the area.

“The Benalla and surrounding communities have always faithfully backed The Salvos, and this year volunteer and raise funds to ensure that we can continue the work in the community for years to come.
“The Salvos cannot do what we do without the generosity of the public in our community.
“If you have the means, please consider donating to the Red Shield Appeal.
“Your generosity and support helps us to give hope where it’s needed most.”
As is the tradition, you’ll see the friendly faces of Salvation Army volunteer collectors in the community during this time.
The Salvos are encouraging the community to give generously and help ensure no one is left in need.

If you miss seeing a local Salvo around the towns, one can donate directly to Benalla Salvos online.
The Salvos are embracing an online donation model, where one can donate directly or become a ‘Digital Doorknocker’ by creating a personal fundraising page and sharing with friends, family and colleagues.
