The census provides important feedback about how the Benalla community is performing and enables comparisons with others across Australia.
Mayor Danny Claridge said he hoped people would contribute to the project.
“We encourage people to give voice to what matters to them,” Cr Claridge said.
“The census will allow us to compare how our community performs alongside other communities.”
The survey is being conducted by Place Score, with more than 80,000 Australians having already participated.
Place Score chief executive Kylie Legge said the census was designed to empower local communities to have more of a say in the decisions that impacted their everyday lives.
“The 2021 Australian Liveability Census will help change the way that people’s values and ideas for change are actually captured and measured,” Ms Legge said.
“We are turning opinions into data that helps government make better decisions.”
Cr Claridge said the survey took less than 15 minutes but the results would have a lasting impact.
Participants have the chance to win one of 10 shopping vouchers valued at $100.
