Deborah Halpern is credited with helping to shape the cultural identity of Melbourne and was recently awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the arts.
She has created many of Melbourne’s most loved public sculptures, and her works exude an innate vitality and simplicity.
She will lead the Art on Saturday program with an exclusive two-day mosaic workshop.

It will offer an in-depth and hands-on insight into her sculptural process, and participants will design and complete their own unique tiled panel.
The program will run each Saturday from July 17 until September 11 with a number of creative workshops facilitated by professional artists.
The Art on Saturday program covers topics and techniques ranging from mosaics to drawing white on black, life drawing, linocut printing, and wet and nuno felting.
Benalla Art Gallery is now taking bookings for this new and exciting range of workshops.

The workshops will take place at Benalla Art Gallery in the Patricia Gardner Studio.
Places are strictly limited and bookings are essential.
