Platt recorded Bain Douche, described as a “quirky, lo-fi, concept album of reimagined gems”, mostly in her bathroom on an iPhone.
The album began when she challenged herself to learn, play and record a song in one day in her bathroom on a phone during COVID-19 lockdowns.
In what became known through her regular social media posts as “bathroom sessions”, the songs appealed to a virtual audience’s need of comfort and connection.
An unplugged and solo performance, Platt will be singing and also sharing stories from the community on social media, including recent difficult experiences and new and positive pathways in a new world.
She hopes to share her “personal musical diary” of adversity and the magic of music spanning two years as she tours.
The album is supported by Creative Victoria and Regional Arts Victoria and is due for release in October this year.
Platt is also a collaborator and long-time friend of Tatong filmmaker Robyn Hughan; her songs soundtracked Robyn’s refugee documentary Journey Beyond Fear.
In addition to her work as a singer, songwriter and musician, Platt is known for her TV work on Sons and Daughters, Neighbours and Sale of the Century.
