Benalla driver more than eight times over drink-drive limit

The female driver was unable to provide a sample of their breath and was taken to hospital, where a blood sample was taken.

The sample returned a result of 0.404, more than eight times the legal limit of alcohol in their system for a fully-licensed driver.

The driver was issued an immediate 12-month driving ban and has received a summons to attend court at a later date.

To help keep road users safe, police patrol regional roads and perform breath testing sites, morning, noon and night.

Police are appealing to drivers not to get behind the wheel of a car if there is the possibility they could be over the limit.

Police would like to remind drivers to consider avoiding driving the next day after a big night drinking to ensure they have had plenty of rest and are under the alcohol limit before driving.
