Nearly 80 rural and regional hospitals, community health services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations will share in $120 million from the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF) — creating hundreds of jobs.
The program will deliver a variety of projects across regional Victoria including operating theatre refurbishments, new waiting rooms and hospital beds, accessible paths and ramps, additional consulting rooms, expansions projects and equipment upgrades.
With 105 projects across 40 rural and regional council areas across Victoria, the program is ensuring communities continue to be able to access high-quality care from Benalla to Mildura.
More than $22 million is being invested across the north-east including $115,000 for Benalla Health to upgrade Information and Communications Technology equipment.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said in the latest round of RHIF projects the government had now invested $490 million in more than 470 regional healthcare projects across the state — the largest program of its type in Victoria.
“Everyone deserves access to quality health care facilities and services — we’re ensuing northern Victorian communities have exactly that close to home.
“We’re delivering better health outcomes for our communities with modern services and facilities while creating local jobs.”
