Ms Lehner, a master of adult magical realism, weaves tales where stories take the reins, set against a backdrop of esoteric worlds and ancient female wisdom.
Her latest book, Anithia: Ancestry of Creativity, transports readers to 1963 to the depths of England’s mystical streets. It’s a tale of time, travel and heart-wrenching choices.
She followed that up with Anithia: Ancestry of awakening, set in an ancient rainforest where transformative revelations lead to difficult decisions.
Ms Lehner began her creative journey by writing lyrics with her guitar in hand.
However, a passion for storytelling led her to write more expansively.
“When I started writing Anithia, my writing process began before my son woke,” she said.
“I’d have a coffee, go for a run and while the endorphins were flowing, I’d get busy writing.
“Most days, my hands couldn’t keep up with my imagination, so I definitely never experienced writer’s block.
“I’m currently editing the third book in the series while writing an entirely separate book.”
However, it is the sequel, in particular, that she will focus on at the event.
“This story I’m very excited about and can’t wait to announce (it )to my female readers,” she said.
“To see my imagination filling 300 pages, and being sold in Canada, Austria and Malaysia is rather exciting and surreal all in one.
“I cut my teeth into the literary world with the first book, so this second book has been more enjoyable to create.”
Ms Lehner said she draws inspiration from courageous women throughout history.
“One morning, sitting down to write lyrics with my guitar, a song idea came to me offering more than three minutes worth of music.
“Four years later, that song grew into the Anithia series. So, in my opinion, Anithia is the longest song in history.”
