Benalla Rural City Council is conducting a study of the city's workforce planning, to analyse the skills needed for future jobs in the region.
Future engineers, tourism operators, medical professionals and other skilled workers may be able to live, study and stay in Benalla.
The council study, which is funded by grants from the Federal Government and Victorian Government is being run by La Trobe University's Business School.

“Identifying required skills and skills gaps across the business sector is the first step to raising awareness of the needs and challenges that will face both employers and employees into the future,” Cr Claridge said.
“This work is very important if we are to support a growing population, growing business economy and the lifestyle that goes along with it.”
