One which has seen a lot of traffic is an exhibition by Benalla’s own Cathy Pianta.
The ‘Retrospective’ exhibition was on display for three days from Friday, March 22, in Shop 2, Cecily Court, at the front of Tomorrow Today.
Pianta said the works on display and for sale were a collection produced in the past 10 years.
“The reaction has been very positive,” Pianta said.
“People have been enjoying the vibe around town.”
She said many people have commented on the amount of exhibitions by local artists, as well as those given the chance to paint a wall.
“This festival has really given a chance to local artists to show what we do and be proud of what we do,” she said.
“People have told me how much they’ve enjoyed the Broken River Painters Exhibition down in the Scout Hall.
“And I’ve been chatting to them and taking notes, asking them if they’re visiting, and if so, where from.
“I’d say around 2/3 have been local people and 1/3 visitors,.That’s what I’ve seen here at my exhibition.
“And it’s great to see so many people.”
With her exhibition housed on the grounds of Tomorrow Today, Pienta decided to donate the funds from the sale of one special painting if it was sold.
Which it has.
“The painting has been bought by Janet Foott of Foott Waste, which has recently become very involved in Benalla with the container deposit scheme (at 22 Irwin Rd)," Pianta said.
“When she realised the proceeds were going to our community foundation, Tomorrow Today, she bought it immediately.
“Which was wonderful.”
