On the afternoon of Monday, August 12, Sally-Anne Edmondstone, 29, allegedly suffered serious injuries at the hands of a homeless couple who had been staying at her residence.
Ms Edmondstone reportedly knew the individuals, who frequently visited and stayed with her over the past year.
Ms Edmonstone’s mother, Wendy Schultz, has set up a GoFundMe page to help with her daughter’s recovery.
Writing on the page, Ms Schultz said her daughter had suffered extensive injuries.
The injuries include “seven fractures to her ribs and four fractures to her upper spine ... a fracture just above her right temple and her face swollen with two black and bloodshot eyes ... she also had marks and swelling on her neck ... and she has burns to the back of her head, neck, arms, hands and chest”.
Ms Schultz said her daughter managed to escape through her bedroom window, allowing her to seek help from a neighbour.
Ms Edmondstone was taken by helicopter to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne.
She has undergone skin grafts using skin from her thigh and faces a long recovery process.
The two individuals allegedly involved in this incident, a male and a female, are being held at a remand centre and are awaiting a court appearance scheduled on November 7.
