Benalla’s Shantell Kocwin is doing her best to raise funds for, and awareness of, the Walk for Autism charity.
While Shantell was too humble to speak to The Ensign, her mother Greer Allan was far too proud and wanted to make sure the community knew about her fundraiser.
“Shantell has three children with autism and she wanted to do her bit to support an autism charity,” Ms Allan said.
“She did the Walk for Autism last year and they asked her if she’d like to do it again.”
Ms Allan said Shantell was doing a wonderful job fundraising while also coping with three sons in the house.
“Shantell’s doing 10,000 steps per day for a total of 160,000 steps,” she said.
“She chose this charity due to her sons being on the spectrum, and has already hit her $200 target.
“So now she is looking to increase that and see what she can get to.”
Shantell will have 16 days, starting on March 25, to do the steps, and is asking people to donate to her challenge.
