While members of the Benalla Yarnbombers were busy being disappointed about stolen items, they got some news that brought a grin to their collective faces.
The group has been invited to take part in Germany’s first international Yarnbombing Festival in Cologne.
Member Joy Shirley said while it may not be possible to attend in person, the group was keen to take part and was beginning to put plans in place to get some items sent over.
“They found us via Enjoy Benalla,” Ms Shirley said.
“Elke, who sent the information and invite to us, told us it will include yarnbombers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the USA, the UK, Finland, Brazil and Mexico.
“And hopefully now, Australia as well.
“The festival is at the end of October and we still need to sit down as a group and decide what we can do.
“But it is so exciting for our work to be recognised on the other side of the world.”
