While navigating a minefield of ever-changing restrictions and repeated lockdowns a group of five community volunteers have been working tirelessly to prepare this year's installation.
The group is keen to highlight that all the decorations are recycled from previous years, or are made with recycled yarn.
Members plan to be out and about the weekend of July 31 decorating the Rose City, COVID-19 restrictions permitting, and could use some help.

Organiser Joy Shirley said if they were unable to install the yarn on that date, they would reschedule and let the public know via The Ensign.
“Almost everything that we are doing this year has been made reusing material from last year,” Ms Shirley said.

“We are, however, adding some decoration to them to make them look different and updated.
“We probably won't get as much of the town covered as we did in 2020.

“For example, I'm not sure if we'll be able to do the trees this year, but the bollards and pergolas will be dressed up.”
Ms Shirley said the team would focus on Bridge St, but they may have enough to do some in Nunn, Smythe, Carrier, and/or Mair Sts.

“We'll try to make it stretch if we can,” she said.
“One of the tasks we have each year is we go through a process to get council permission and permission from VicRoads.

“And we get great help from Waminda House, who I really want to mention.
“They always help us by covering us on their volunteer insurance.

“They do such a wonderful job for Benalla and they help us out a lot.
“So I want to say a big thank you to them as well.”
