It certainly has been a very long time since a new bridge over the Murray River at Echuca-Moama was first mooted.
However, I think you will agree – it will be well worth the wait.

Congratulations to Mandy Worsnop on becoming a grandmother.
Mandy’s daughter Chantelle and her husband Jack presented her with a grandson, Nash Edward Keogh last Thursday afternoon.
Baby, parents and grandparents are all well.

Well Easter is upon us again, and with it the Mathoura Easter Fair.
The Soldiers’ Memorial Gardens will be the venue for much of the action, including market stalls, food and refreshments.
There will also be children’s amusements, showbags, competitions and a visit by Easter Bunny,
A Tug-o-War will be another highlight of the fun-filled fair.

More than 70 people attended Saturday’s launch of a book on a family which made a major contribution to our local community at both business and community level.
The book, entitled Bocks – Three generations of Mathoura Bakers was launched by author, Ian Lea and family member, Jeanette Fealy (nee Bock).
It not only gives an insight into the family, but what life was like in Mathoura all those years ago.
It records the establishment of the post office, the opening of the Deniliquin and Moama Railway, the first school, the churches, the various hotels, halls and inaugural meeting of the Murray Shire Council as the village took shape.
It is truly worth a read. The book can be purchased by contacting Jeanette Fealy on 0419 603 554.

Hundreds of little yellow ducks will take to the water on Sunday in the annual Mathoura Duck Race.
Hundreds of dollars will be up for grabs in the event which will be run at Picnic Point.
If you haven’t already secured your duck, you can do so at the Easter Fair on Saturday.
And at just $5 a duck, you might like to grab two.

Mathoura Football Netball Club’s current situation might be making it the ‘Easy-Beats’ in the Picola District League.
But when you’ve been around for 112 years, you learn to take the bad with the good and roll with the punches.
In the meantime, the next generation of players is enjoying learning the ropes and being a part of this great club.

Mathoura Bowling Club’s Men’s Pairs Championship for the 21/22 season has been decided.
Congratulations to M Quor and R Werner who secured the title from P Clear and M Humphreys.
The club’s Mixed Pairs Championship has also been decided with the honours going to M Quor and P Lewis over P and S Limbrick.
Trophies won during the season will be awarded during the club’s presentation function next week.

If you enjoy board games, cards and jigsaw puzzles – or just getting out and mixing with others over a cuppa - then Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre is the place to be every second Wednesday.
The activities are conducted between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, with the next scheduled for April 20.
