The Cobram Regional Care residential resident was growing a mullet with his grandson during the football season.
Instead of shaving it discreetly Mr Quinlan decided it would be a great opportunity to raise money for a charitable cause.
Mr Quinlan chose the Cobram Community House Shower program, which offers free access to showers as well toiletries and operates from Killara House, in the Cobram Showgrounds, on Fridays from 10am to 12pm.
Making an event of his “loss”, Cobram Regional Care staff and residents gathered together to cheer their companion on.
Live music and food was on offer as the crowd gathered round as Mr Quinlan got the Cobram Regional Care chief executive officer Tracey Gemmill and Cobram Community House chief executive officer Christine Osborne to take turns to shave off his crowning glory.
To help raise money, Cobram Regional Care staff held a barbecue the day before and tickets were sold for a giant hamper raffle.
Katamatite Lions also supported the venture with a large monetary donation.

A total of $820 was raised for the Cobram Community House Shower for the Homeless program.
Ms Osborne said she was thankful for the donation and for being invited to take part in the fun event.
“It was great to be a part of the event,” she said.
“We are extremely grateful to Greg and Cobram Regional Care for their community spirit and generosity.
“The funds raised will support the continuation of our community shower program.”
