Corey, a beloved local farmer and Hume League reserves football player for Rand Walbundrie Walla, was attending a 21st birthday celebration, on the night of February 18, when an unforeseen accident on David Street left him with serious spinal injuries.
Emergency services promptly responded, and he was initially taken to Albury Hospital. Given the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Melbourne for specialised care.
Currently at the Austin Hospital, Corey’s medical status remains critical but stable, as he battles not only the spinal injuries but also complications like pneumonia, from which he is gradually recovering. Despite the daunting prognosis, there is a glimmer of hope as Hogan exhibits slight sensation in his hands, with further surgeries on the horizon.
In response to this tragedy, the community has launched a GoFundMe campaign to alleviate the financial strain on Hogan and his family.
Demonstrating immense support and goodwill, the campaign has already amassed over $55,200. These funds are earmarked for his ongoing medical expenses, rehabilitation, and the necessary adjustments to his living environment post-recovery.
Corey, who is employed at Days in Oaklands and has deep roots in Rand, is cherished by many for his commitment and camaraderie both on and off the football field.
