Pearse, 18, will make his debut at the Commonwealth Games, held from July 28 to August 8, just one month after he competes at the 2022 World Paraswimming Championships in Portugal.
Pearse is part of a team of 27, and an announcement by Swimming Australia confirmed he will swim in the men's 100m Butterfly S10, the same event he claimed bronze in at the Tokyo Paralympics in August 2021.
It shapes as a busy international swimming schedule for Pearse, the recently announced 2020-21 Echuca-Moama senior Sportstar.
On top that accolade, Pearse has been nominated for the Global Wellness Tracking Young Athlete of the Year at the Victorian Sport Awards.
The award recognises Victorian sporting excellence, and Pearse has been nominated among a who’s who of names including tennis star Dylan Alcott, and NBA basketballers Josh Giddey and Jock Landale.
In his category, Pearse has been nominated alongside Formula 2 champion and Shepparton product Oscar Piastri, as well as Nicholas Lum (table tennis) and Jade Melbourne (basketball).
Another Bamawm sporting export will preside on the judging panel for the VSAs, with Sharelle McMahon, currently the head of female cricket at Cricket Victoria, set to cast her vote.
The 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games will be held from July 28 to August 8, while the VSAs will take place at CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park on Wednesday, June 15.
