The Cooinda Knitting Group decided to focus some time on decorating the front of the facility after a member of the health and wellbeing team put the idea to them.
Dawn Berry has been part of the knitting group for some time and was delighted to be involved.
“I’ve been a part of the Cooinda Knitting Group for quite a while and we love to work on projects,” Dawn said.

“I really enjoy the company of others, chatting away while my fingers are kept busy.
“Most of us also go to the Wool Winders group, which I believe has been running for more than 20 years.

“The Wool Winders group accepts washed, knitted woollen jumpers and unpicks them and winds and reuses the wool.
“We use this wool for knitting bright colourful scarves and squares for yarn-bombing.

“I knit most days, so I guess you could say it’s an all-year-round hobby of mine.
“I knit scarves, animal pouches and penguin jumpers, which are included in the yarn-bombing, that we then donate to charities who can use them.”

Dawn said this year's theme was Bright and Colourful.
“It's something to put a smile on people’s faces,” she said.

“I noticed while the yarn-bombing was going up people were smiling and commenting on our display at the front fence of Cooinda.
“I’d like to thank the health and wellbeing ‘pink’ team at Cooinda for helping our knitting group by putting the front fence display together and also for collecting wool for us to use.”
Dawn said she hoped the yarn-bombing continued to be an annual event the knitting club took part in.
