Careers Advisor Janet Lake expressed enthusiasm for the diverse range of opportunities pursued by the graduating class.
“Corowa High School’s Year 12 students have truly excelled in securing spots in university and TAFE programs, as well as apprenticeships and cadetships in various fields,” Ms Lake remarked.
The graduates have gained entry into a broad spectrum of university programs, demonstrating the school’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education.
Courses such as law, physiotherapy, education, nursing and midwifery, business, biomedicine, and communications are just a few examples of the areas the students will be delving into.
Notably, four standout graduates—Hayley Coats, Isabel Bush, Zoe Dutton, and Lara Ovenden—will continue their studies in nursing and allied health, embarking on careers in the health sector. Their journey includes completing school-based traineeships over the past two years, highlighting the school’s emphasis on practical, hands-on experience.
Ethan Hanrahan and Ryan Glare are set to make their mark in the financial and accounting sector, commencing cadetships with businesses in Corowa and Albury. This achievement highlights the school’s commitment to preparing students for real-world professional environments.
While some graduates plan to undertake gap year programs to save for further studies, others are exploring domestic and international volunteer programs—an option highly esteemed by employers.
Ms Lake emphasised the current demand for skilled workers, with businesses locally, nationally, and internationally actively seeking talent. The school has reported receiving daily inquiries from employers keen on recruiting students.
Ms Lake also highlighted the opportune moment for young individuals or those considering a career change to explore new and engaging paths. TAFE is offering numerous free courses, although certain criteria apply.
“Connecting with employers is invaluable in securing the career of your choice,” Ms Lake said.
“Work experience has proven to be a valuable tool, and we encourage all our students to participate. We owe the success of these programs to the support of our many wonderful local businesses, for which we are extremely grateful.”
