Due to the forecast hot temperatures across Victoria tomorrow, Friday, December 20, extreme heat timetables will be in place to ensure train services run safely.
Partial extreme heat timetables will be in place on the Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill lines, while a full extreme heat timetable will be in place for services on the Seymour and Shepparton lines.
Speed restrictions may also be implemented on other lines if the forecast changes, which may result in delays, shortened or changed services, or cancellations.
Passengers are asked to check the V/Line website before travelling to view extreme heat timetables and check if there are any changes to their services and allow extra travel time.
Extreme heat speed restrictions are enforced when temperatures exceed 36°C to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.
When an extreme heat timetable is in place, journey times will be extended as officials reduce the speed of trains.
There will be drinking water on board trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water and to wear cool clothing.
