They will ignite creativity, allowing participants to explore different mediums to create unique artworks.
Benalla Art Gallery welcomes Janet Leith to host her popular life drawing sessions as part of the Art on Saturdays program in November.
The workshops allow participants to gain regular practice in life drawing guided by a professional artist. They will focus on skill development in drawing the human figure while exploring different materials and techniques to help develop tone and depth.
This series is designed for regular life drawers and will be held on November 18 and 25, as well as December 2, from 1pm to 3pm in the Pat Gardner Studio.
You can participate for $100 if you are a gallery member or $120 for non-members.
Bookings are essential, with the price including all three workshops.
In December, Wendy Jagger will present an afternoon of painting en plein air (in the open air) in Benalla’s Botanical Gardens.
Wendy will highlight the many botanical specimens and vistas in the surroundings while exploring the local landscape, sharing her painting techniques using gouache.
Wendy is an experienced artist and art educator who will tailor her teaching to suit participant’s abilities and skill levels.
The painting workshop with all materials provided will be held from 10.30am to 1.30pm. This workshop costs $50 for gallery members and $60 for non-members.
Benalla Art Gallery director Eric Nash said the workshops allowed participants to experiment with various creative mediums while learning from and working alongside professional artists, gaining an insight into their creative practices.
“It is no secret that we have an incredible community of artists here in the north-east who are regularly making and presenting work in many of our great spaces,” Mr Nash said.
“Our Art on Saturdays program of workshops is all about supporting a direct experience and a deeper understanding of making and thinking about art while also piquing the interest of members of the community seeking a new hobby through an engagement with leading artists.”
Bookings are essential for both workshops. Secure your place via benallaartgallery.com.au/learn/
