The Victorian Parliament’s flood inquiry committee will tour the Goulburn Valley region in September and October, holding public meetings in flood-hit Shepparton, Echuca, Rochester and Seymour.
The committee will investigate Victoria’s preparedness and response to floods last year and will investigate the flood event as a whole, as well as factors which caused or contributed to the floods.
Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell is part of the Legislative Council’s environment and planning committee.
She said it was crucial for the committee to hear from those directly affected by the floods and urged the public to lodge a written submission and/or attend the public hearings.
The hearings will be held in Rochester on August 23, Echuca on August 24, Shepparton on September 13, Seymour on September 14 and Melbourne on October 11-12.
The closing date for submissions to the inquiry has been extended to Monday, June 5, 2023.
Written submissions could be as short as a couple of paragraphs or a more comprehensive document.
