The foundation’s latest round of its Community Grants Program recognises the urgent need for support amid rising living costs and the increased pressure on mental health services.
Grants ranging from $5000 to $50,000 were offered to Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission-registered charities, ensuring a broad spectrum of organisations can access vital resources without requiring Deductible Gift Recipient status.
FFV chairman Garry James expressed his pride in the foundation’s efforts, highlighting the resilience and commitment of the organisations that serve Victorian communities.
“It’s always a privilege to announce funding for projects set to improve the lives and opportunities of Victorians,” he said.
“These grants are a testament to the dedication of organisations working tirelessly to uplift Victorian communities when it’s needed most.
“We’re inspired by the innovation and commitment shown by this year’s recipients and are proud to stand with them as they create meaningful change in their communities.”
The funded projects encompass a diverse range of initiatives, including physical and mental health programs, youth development projects, food relief services and digital upgrades aimed at enhancing the capabilities of not-for-profit organisations.“
Among the recipients, the Rumbalara Football Netball Club’s Algabonyah Driver Mentor Program has been awarded a $20,000 grant.
Launched in May 2021, this is the first driving program in Victoria led by and for First Nations peoples, focusing on providing culturally sensitive driving education and support.
Since its inception, the program has attracted over 450 participants.
Algabonyah Driver Mentor Program co-ordinator Glenn Walker said that follow-up conversations with individuals who obtained their P-plates revealed a strong level of success for the program.
“A number have increased their work hours due to being able to now get to work when called in, while others have been able to do further study or take up positions that have involved them travelling outside of town, something that they were not able to do before,” he said.
“This grant will further support getting all our participants on the road and enable us to deliver our essential services and reach those in need effectively.”
On behalf of the program, Mr Walker said he would like to thank FFV for its unwavering support.
“Their generosity and commitment to helping others have been instrumental in ensuring the success and sustainability of programs like ours,” he said.
“Without their contributions, it would be challenging to continue providing the services and support that so many people rely on.
“Thank you for your partnership and for being a driving force behind meaningful change.”
