Tomorrow Today’s Great Start to School program is designed to address those concerns and help parents and carers to get their child ready to start their formal schooling.
Tomorrow Today Education Benalla Program manager Sally Matheson said the group had a successful track record of helping ease the transition
“Since 2013, we’ve assisted hundreds of Benalla parents to help their children feel more confident and ready to start school,” she said.
“The sessions address things like establishing morning routines, separation anxiety, tips for assisting literacy and numeracy development, and include some very practical things too — like what to pack in their lunchbox and tips for keeping track of all the new school gear.”
The program includes a range of resources and checklists for families to refer to.
“The sessions allow time for parents to share their experiences and concerns and get some reassurance for things that might be worrying them,” Ms Matheson said.
The free program is open to parents and carers of children who are starting school in Benalla and district in 2025 and consists of two, two-hour sessions held on consecutive Fridays.
Sessions will be held in three locations: St Joseph’s Primary School and Benalla P-12 Avon and Waller St campuses.
