Located at 8/52 Hardinge St and operating from 10am until 2pm most Fridays, the Deniliquin Community Hub offers a bit of everything.
One is food hampers, which consist of 7–9 items. A $2 donation is suggested, to help support the cost of transport.
With a background in youth homelessness/housing and disability support, Sheridan is wired to help out.
She spent 12 years working in the industry in Echuca, and has recently returned to her home town of Deniliquin to build the Deniliquin Community Hub to be a service to the community.
With continued donations from locals and businesses, the hub hopes to provide a space where anyone can come in and get some support “no questions asked.”
Aside from food, the Deniliquin Community Hub also works to supply toys, casual and school clothing and other items important to families.
Its previous projects have included a winter coat drive and a back to school hamper drive.
The hub also supports community outreach, with its next event a community lunch at the Uniting Church hall in Poictiers St next Friday, August 9 from noon to 1.30pm. A gold coin donation has been requested for entry.
To continue with her aims, Sheridan is asking for community support by way of donations and volunteers.
She is also searching for a more permanent solution for the location of the hub.
If you can help, drop into the hub on Hardinge St or contact Sheridan through the Deniliquin Community Hub Facebook page. Make sure to like the page for continued hub updates.
