Local community groups have until 5pm on Friday, January 17 to lodge an expression of interest for the next round.
The grants program aims to support organisations to increase participation in volunteering, as well as to support children’s well-being through volunteering.
Between $1000 and $5000 is available for volunteers and volunteer organisations.
Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines is encouraging not-for-profit community organisations across Indi to consider putting in an expression of interest.
“This year, the grant focuses on funding important but often expensive costs involved with volunteering — like insurance, premiums, phone bills and technology purchases, which are becoming increasingly more expensive,” Dr Haines said.
“Volunteer groups that I meet with across Indi tell me that grants like this go a long way in supporting volunteers to continue their important work.”
Two streams of grant funding are available in the 2024-25 Indi Volunteer Grants program.
- Stream one offers funding for the purchase of communication or insurance items that will benefit a community organisation’s volunteers.
- Stream two will fund either the purchase of items or services, or the running of volunteer-led activities, with a focus on the development of children under 18.
Applications will be assessed by a panel of community members, and those who are successful will be invited to apply to the Department of Social Services for a grant.
