The House is hosting a celebration to mark the International Day of Rural Women on Tuesday, October 15, at Lockington Community Centre from noon.
The special guest of the day will be Country Women’s Association of Victoria state president Jenny Nola.
There will be a selection of gourmet finger food lunch and a spring fashion parade run by Parson’s of Rochester.
Shiraz Republic Winery at Cornella will host a pop-up tasting and provide attendees with a complimentary glass of bubbles upon arrival.
Guests have a chance to win some prizes with lucky door prizes and there will be a raffle to benefit Lockington and District Bush Nursing Centre.
Lockington Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Tanya McDermott said the event was an opportunity for ladies on the land, their friends, families and supporters to enjoy a casual get-together.
“We’ve chosen a lunch in the hope that those with milking and other farming commitments locally can come along, but it’s a day for everyone who appreciates the commitment and resilience of rural women,” she said.
“Country life can have a lot of challenges and it’s important to take time to connect with your community, enjoy a break from your day-to-day obligations and support your mental health and wellbeing.”
Tickets to the lunch are $15 per person. Contact Lockington Neighbourhood House on 0499 170 329 or email nhldbc@gmail.com if you would like to attend.
