The Benalla community can enjoy a free afternoon of local music at the iconic Ceramic Mural, presented by Goulburn And North East Arts Alliance and Live Art Benalla, on Saturday, November 23 from 1pm to 5pm.
Live Art Benalla director Tegan Nash said there was no better way to enjoy a beautiful spring day than with an afternoon of music, arts and culture by Lake Benalla.
“It’s been a busy month of festivities and celebrations in Benalla following the Benalla Festival, and Mural Music is excited to continue this vibe as we head into Christmas,” she said.
“Last year’s Mural Music event was a great success, welcoming about 300 local community members to enjoy the free entertainment, children’s activities and local food, beer and wine.
“This year is bound to do the same.”
Situated in an idyllic lakeside location, the event will begin with a special Welcome to Country, followed by performances by talented local musicians and bands.
An eclectic mix of styles, these acts will include Celtic tunes by local musicians Inisheer, music by former The Voice contestant and singer-songwriter Drew Walker, and blues-country music by singer-songwriter Kane Vincent.
Mural Music will also welcome young, local indi rock band The Dunners, followed by some old-school classics, played their own way by local band KAM, who have reunited for this special community celebration.
Ms Nash said each year this event filled the iconic location with great music performed by local talent.
“The relaxed vibe, the food, the music, the kids running around enjoying art and culture — it’s a special time of the year for us, and we love seeing the community come out to enjoy and support our local gems,” she said.
“We are so fortunate to have this beautiful environment and this level of impressive artists living in our region. It’s a pleasure to celebrate it all.”
Audiences are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or chair to enjoy the local food trucks and/or refreshments at the LAB bar.
There is something for the entire family, with the inclusion of art workshops for children and families facilitated by local artists, that will engage the senses, capture the imagination and encourage creative expression among the music.
This event has been supported by Benalla Rural City Council through the Community Grants Program, The Tomorrow Today Foundation and Inland Rail.
