Despite a two-year hiatus because of COVID-19 restrictions, 150 stallholders marketing a huge array of high-quality goods, crafts, produce, clothes and gift items at great prices will be in attendance, and thousands of visitors are again expected to flock to the township for the event.
Janet Heath, secretary of the Oxley Hall Committee, which organises the event, said the market was regarded as “the best bush market in regional Victoria”.
“It will run from 9am to 3pm, and the small township will come alive with people attending from far and wide and throughout the north-east,” Ms Heath said.
“The first annual market occurred in 1980, when country markets were generally unheard of.
“In 2022 will again see many new, unique and varied goods on sale from first time vendors.
“Everyone will certainly find something new and different, while still visiting their ‘regular favourites’.
“The market is a vibrant day, with entertainment for all ages.
“Most people come to take advantage of the specials on offer, while others come to simply enjoy the atmosphere and meet up with old friends.
“Children’s activities, gourmet foods, drinks and toe-tapping music will add to the festive atmosphere.
“The market is also attended by a number of worthy charitable organisations, so visitors can show their support for these groups while wandering around and enjoying the ‘busyness’ of the market.
“I would stress the event is in full swing until 3pm, when the monster community raffle is drawn.”
The Oxley Bush Market is again an official “Waste Wise” event and the committee is encouraging everyone to “put the right thing in the right bin”.
Smoking is discouraged in the hall grounds, while only guide dogs are permitted to enter the market, because of the crush of visitors, especially children.
Disabled parking is available outside the front gate of the hall.
