The award for Best Decorated House and Garden went to Pam Taylor of 22 Jones Street, which I believe was an absolute picture.
Mathoura Newsagency took the prize for Best Decorated Business.
It was the second win in a row for these guys, so they’ve been really getting into it.
Thank you to those who entered, and the many who just decorated their homes for their own enjoyment and, as it turned out, that of the many people who enjoyed a ride around town to see them.
Thank you also to the ladies who took on the role of judges and had some hard decisions to make, particularly in the house and garden section.
Just when they thought they had the winner they turned a corner and were met with another challenge.
Well done.

The St Brigid’s Catholic Church Christmas raffle was drawn last week, with locals featuring in the winners’ circle.
Relative newcomer to town, Tristan Ross, claimed first prize - a hamper.
Louie Toomey collected a fuel voucher as second prize and Bob Viladjovic received a voucher from the butcher shop.
The raffle raised about $450.

The next main event for Mathoura will be celebration of the nation’s birthday on Thursday, January 26.
The Soldiers’ Memorial Gardens on the corner of Lawrence and Livingstone Streets will be the venue for this free activity for both locals and visitors.
Organised by the Mathoura On The Map Committee, the event will kick off with a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausages, tea, coffee and water.
Following breakfast, world renowned Echuca Murray town crier Judy Campbell will call the gathering to order for the formal proceedings of the day.
This will include recognition of Australians past and present, confirmation of our allegiance to our nation and an address by a guest speaker.
We are also hopeful some of our residents will be acknowledged with Australia Day Awards, and help cut the Australia Day cake.

The recent hot weather is the ideal time to remind people of the swimming facilities which exist in town.
Located in Mathoura Street, next to the police station, is a 33m, four-lane pool with an adjacent toddlers’ pool.
It is a shady area and is managed by Belgravia Leisure, which has life guards in attendance for protection of all.
The pool is open normally open Monday to Friday between 3.30pm and 6pm and weekend from 1pm to 6pm.
During the school holidays opening hours are 1pm to 6pm.
The pool will be closed on New Year’s Day, and is closed on other public holidays throughout the year.
To learn more, call Belgravia Leisure on 5032 5222.

If you think you may have consumed to many Christmas goodies over the past few weeks, then maybe local exercise physiologist Barb Anderson could be the person to help you out.
Barb conducts gentle exercise sessions in town each Friday morning and will be back on the job from Friday, January 13.
The sessions are held at Mathoura Bowling Club and cost just $5 per session.
The sessions are open to both men and women. If you want to learn more you can contact Barb on 0401 256 233.
She comes to us from Deniliquin where she operates the Activate 8 Health & Rehab Centre.
So if you have any aches and pains she can help you with those as well.
