Patho woman released on bail following fatal collision

A Patho woman accused of dangerous driving causing death following a fatal collision in Torrumbarry earlier this year has been released on bail.

Rebecca Jane Hall, 29, of Patho, was successfully granted a bail application at Echuca Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 22.

While no summary was read aloud in court, Victoria Police said Ms Hall had been charged with dangerous driving causing death.

Police have alleged that she was driving a Ford Ranger along the Murray Valley Highway when it crashed into the back of a Mitsubishi Triton at the intersection of Farley Rd about 2pm on January 25.

The driver of the Triton, a 29-year-old woman from Newtown, died at the scene.

Prosecutor Lachlan Broadribb sought a bail application for Ms Hall after the court heard she had a work trip planned in December.

Ms Hall’s solicitor Stephen Schembri had no objection to her being placed on bail, stating she was “not a flight risk”.

“She’s married, lives and works in the area,” Mr Schembri said.

Magistrate Sharon McRae remanded Ms Hall on bail to appear in a Bendigo court in February on the conditions that she must reside at her address in Patho, is not to travel overseas except for a work trip planned in December, and is required to hand her passport back in to police immediately after the trip.
