Police were pleased to see the majority of drivers travelling safely during the long weekend. However, they were disappointed by a few decisions made by drivers on Australia Day.
Police allege a 25-year-old female from Melton was detected driving through a breath-testing site in Benalla about 7.30pm. The driver returned a positive blood alcohol concentration result of 0.075.
Police said a 34-year-old female disqualified driver was intercepted for speeding on Mansfield Rd later that night.
Bike stolen
Inquiries are continuing in relation to a mountain bike that was stolen in Benalla on New Year’s Eve.
Police are appealing for anyone with information regarding the theft or whereabouts of the blue/teal coloured bicycle to contact Benalla Police Station or Crime Stoppers.

Students and school zones return
Drivers are reminded that students have returned to the classroom this week and are urging drivers to help keep our most vulnerable road users safe as they travel to and from school.
Take extra care on rural roads and be on the lookout near school bus stops, as children may be trying to cross the road nearby.
Slow down in school zones, and remember, parking within 20 metres before a designated school crossing or 10 metres after is illegal.
Police will be patrolling school zones and enforcing road rules, including those related to school zone 40km/h speed limits, seat belts and child restraints, mobile devices and parking offences.
