With an ageing community, Benalla Health has launched a program with that aim front and centre.
The Benalla Health Home Support Program is designed to provide essential services that enable older people to live safely and comfortably in their own homes.
Through a range of personalised services, this program ensures that individuals receive the support they need while maintaining their dignity and autonomy.
The program offers a range of services, including help with household chores, personal care, respite for carers, and more.
Domestic assistance
Trained staff visit homes to help with housework, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and toilets, wiping benches and cupboards, dusting, and making or changing beds.
Personal care
Experienced and qualified staff assist with personal hygiene, including showering, dressing and undressing, toileting, shaving and grooming, eating and drinking, and assistance with shopping.
Carer respite
Respite is available to give carers a break so they can enjoy social activities, attend appointments, go shopping, or participate in leisure activities, knowing their loved ones are in good hands.
Social support
Benalla Health helps clients get out and about so they can participate in community life and feel socially included through structured, group-based activities.
Shopping assistance
Both assisted and unassisted shopping services are available. Benalla Health staff can take clients out shopping or shop on their behalf, ensuring they have everything they need.
To be eligible for these funded services, a person must have a current home care package and be 65 years or older, or 50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
My Aged Care is the starting point for all funded aged care services. To check your eligibility, contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or via www.myagedcare.gov.au/eligibility-checker/
