The store, 7-Eleven’s second in the city, is being built on the corner of Benalla Rd and Archer St, adjacent to the showgrounds.
The company says the new Shepparton East and existing Numurkah Rd stores are part of an estimated $10 million investment in Victoria’s north and north-east over the next five years.
That expansion is likely to include a network of up to 10 stores throughout the region, including two in Wodonga and one in Benalla, which was announced in December.
7-Eleven said it was making significant investment in the region as part of the company’s commitment to “providing regional Victorians with the same level of choice and convenience available to people across Greater Melbourne”.
The company’s planned expansion is expected to provide ongoing job and career opportunities for approximately 70 people across the north and north-east, with many more during construction phases.
7-Eleven general manager - channel Fiona Hayes said both Shepparton stores were company-owned and locals would be recruited for both team member and manager roles.
“The opportunity is there, also, for those who might be looking to shift into our industry from other fields,” Ms Hayes said.
“The team members we recruit will be provided with extensive training to deliver an excellent customer experience, so previous work history in the petrol and convenience industry isn’t a requirement.”
The product range on offer at the new Shepparton East store will be consistent with 7-Eleven’s existing outlet on Numurkah Rd in Shepparton, including selling fuel.
