SES issues flood watch for Broken River

State Emergency Service has issued a flood watch for the Broken River catchment.

Minor flooding with isolated moderate flooding may develop from Thursday evening (September 8).

A cold front is expected to cross the state today.

Catchments in the flood watch area are wet as a result of recent rainfall, with elevated river levels in some catchments.

Rainfall totals of 15 to 25 mm are expected on Thursday across the flood watch area, with higher totals of up to 50mm across the north-east ranges.

During Thursday isolated totals of 30 to 50mm are possible, with thunderstorms across the flood watch area.

Further rainfall totals of up to 20mm are forecast for Friday in the eastern ranges.

River rises and areas of minor flooding with isolated moderate flooding may develop from Thursday evening across the flood watch catchments.

You should stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings;
Farmers should consider moving livestock and machinery to higher ground;
Monitor weather forecasts and river levels online by visiting www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings;
Contact family members and neighbours to ensure they are aware of the situation;
Floodwater is dangerous — never drive, walk or ride through floodwater;
Review your emergency plan and check your emergency kit is fully stocked, if you have one.
