Seldom do banks, or bank staff come to you, but our Bendigo Community Bank is an exception to the rule.
At a recent function held at the club, the bank distributed $32,750 in community grants to local organisations.
Recipients included Mathoura Public School, Mathoura Gun Club, Mathoura Football Netball Club, Mathoura Bowling Club, Mathoura Golf Club and the Mathoura Speed Shear and Cancer fund raising event.
Congratulations to the bank on its generous community support.

It must have been disappointing for locals looking forward to seeing a steam train travelling the rails in our area last weekend when it turned up without the old time locomotive.
The huffing and puffing locomotive with it’s loud whistle would have to be what excites people the most about the trains of yesteryear was not attached.
It was railway ‘progress’ with the removal of the turntable at the former Deniliquin station site that brought the visiting Riverlander to a halt at Echuca, and replaced with today’s locomotives at each end so they could get back over the border.
The Riverlander will be back in the region this weekend when a second lot of passengers is taken to Deniliquin for the weekend.
The trip also includes a chance to see the Moama Lights display.

Mathoura District and Servicemen’s Bowling Club has been selected as a finalist in the hospitality category of the 2024 Campaspe Murray Business Awards.
The People’s Choice Award allows members of the public to vote for their favourite finalist business.
This is a fantastic achievement for our club – showing the great work and dedication by the board and staff as well as the ongoing contribution from members and guests.
But to enable the club to secure the prize in the category, we need to lodge our votes – and encourage others to vote for the club as well.
The address for voting is www.campaspemurraybusinessawards.com/vote-now.

Members of Mathoura Public School’s Kindergarten class will soon have been at school for 100 days.
To mark the occasion, Kinder and Year 1 students will dress in clothing similar to those worn a century ago.
I’m sure they will have a lot of fun on the day.
